Q1) What is UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)?
A.1) UPSC holds a combined examination for civil services (for recruitment to IAS, IPS, IFS and other services - Group A and Group B) is held once in a year in two parts : Preliminary and Main Examinations (include written test and personality test). In Maharashtra it is held at Mumbai, Nagpur and Aurangabad. The notification for the same is published in the third week of December or first week of January every year in Employment News / Rozgar Samachar.

A.3) Subparts of General Studies for Preliminary Examination 1) General Science, 2) Current Events (National), 3) Current Events (International), 4) History of India and Indian National Movement, 5) Indian and World Geography, 6) Indian Polity and Economy, 7) Mental Ability Tests. Paper 1 : 2 Hours, General Studies, 150 questions, 150 marks. and Paper 2 : 2 Hours, Optional Subject, 120 questions, 300 marks.
