Chanakya Mandal Parivar – Foundation Course

It is said that only 10% of an iceberg is visible above the surface, the remaining 90% being submerged and out of sight. Similarly out of the sum total of skills required to succeed in the modern economy only 10% are taught in our formal education system. These skills are called technical skills which include everything from languages, history, geography to mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. The skills are only sector specific and will help you succeed in only one area of life. Only now is the world waking up to the importance of the 90% submerged skills which are more important for success. The skills are variously known as basics skills, life skills or soft skills. Personally we prefer the traditional word “character building”. The skills include habit formation, emotional intelligence, leadership, communication, interview skills, confidence building, management, financial literacy, handling success and failure, de-stressing, Yog & Dhyan for physical-mental wellbeing and an awareness of our rich culture and heritage. We firmly believe that these skills must be inculcated in the critical age group of 16 to 21 years so that they enable our next generations to lead a happy, healthy and fulfilling life in the service of Bharat Mata.

About Foundation Course

Actually, there are no education requirements for this course. Anyone who is between the ages of 15 and 30 may enrol in this course. The first and second years of a degree can typically be the best years to take this course because of the variety of skills that are taught in it.

On the surface this course does not touch up on the topics of syllabus such as polity, history, geography etc. However we believe that what we teach goes deeper than the topics of the syllabus. This course provides meta skills necessary for the student to deal with the huge challenge of facing the toughest competitive examination in the world.

This includes

  1.  Study skills such as reading techniques, note making techniques, revision techniques, study schedule management – these help the students to take charge of their preparation in further years rather than relying on any spoon feeding.
  2. Habit formation – student are taught techniques which help them get answers to questions such as – how to break bad habits and build new ones. How to fix your sleep schedule. How to maintain consistency in your preparation.
  3. Emotional intelligence and stress management – how to deal with exam anxiety. How to deal with self doubt. How to stay calm under pressure when attempting the prelims or the main examination.
  4. Time Management – time is probably the most scarce resource that a civil service aspirant has. Students are taught how to make the best use of time and energy and focus.
  5. Yoga, Meditation – helps in keeping the student calm and focused. Yoga helps in increasing the amount of focussed attention that the student can maintain.
  6. Special Sessions -students are motivated to continue in their preparation because they regularly interact with senior faculties including officers who are fulfilling their duty as karyakarta Adhikaris of the nation.
